What happens to Transitional Protection if PIP stops?

I have a question about the Transitional Protection aspect of Universal Credit.

If, on migrating to UC, you are getting the disability premiums based on being on both top rates of PIP, and your TP reflects that - what happens if your PIP stops whilst on UC?

Under ESA, the premiums would obviously cease. How would this affect your UC?

I've tried to find information on line but can't find anything definitive. What I've read seems to suggest the TP would continue, but it's hard to imagine UC letting you have extra money!

    PiP does not affect UC.

It was only the premiums under old ESA that affected UC TP.

The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.

    Thank you for your response.

My thinking as that, as my TP was based on having the premiums that came with PIP, when the PIP ceased (IF it ceased) then perhaps the TP that was awarded me based on the premiums would also cease?

I hope I'm explaining this clearly.

No. There is no back tracking process. The old version of ESA you had no longer exists. Therefore as ESA no longer exists, there is no ESA claim to be affected.

I don't think there is anything in UC TP legislation that looks at changes in PIP and then leads to a reduction in the level of TP. The reasons for UC TP reducing are fully set out in legislation and government information.

The TP is unaffected if PIP stops.

No, it hasn't stopped. Review is not for several years and then possibly light touch review.

    I was simply curious.

It's not something I'm worried about as my PIP is unlikely to stop (famous last words…) but I wondered what would happen given that the TP matching the amount received when receiving premiums.

    Thanks for responses.
