Fixed saving rates / bonds
Hello,
I'm new to this forum so apolgies if this has been dealt with before.
The best fixed savings rates I can find seem to be around 4.5% per annum - that includes MSE.
The only alternative seems to be something like Hargreaves London who are offering 6% on a 2 year bond.
Can anyone help me understand how HL are able to do that?
TIA

"Hargreaves London" - are you looking at some sort of clone site?
HL usually refers to Hargreaves Lansdown, whose best 2 year fix is currently 4.43%…

Is this a scam?

How did you make the initial enquiry- was it by any chance a response to an advert on social media ?
Also all the blurb talks about investments, not savings & no mention of any FSCS protection.

Looks scammy to me, what's the actual email address it was sent from and how did you come to receive it? What enquiry did you make?

This sounds very iffy, institutions should direct you to their website to apply, never enter personal information via a link from an email - especially if the email is unsolicited

Thanks for the responses.
The email was as a result of social media post which I asked for further information on. The email came from register@hloffer.com
The attachment is quite convincing and does mention FSCS protection and gives a couple of product examples.
They also rang me from a Bristol number this morning - I couldn't talk but asked them to ring back after 3.00 today.
Based on your responses this does look like a scam so I'll be keeping my cash safe!
Thanks again.

As said any genuine mail/offer from HL, would direct you to its website for opening any new accounts.
Plus as with any financial offer ' if it looks too good to be true, then it probably is'
Suggest you block the number on your phone.

I've just checked my account with Hargreaves Landsdowne and none of the rates quoted above are listed. Definitely sounds like a scam to me so keep your cash safe.

In addition to the above, it'll also be worth thinking about the personal details you've provided (phone, email etc) as that info will most likely be passed on or sold to other scammers and you could receive other, unsolicited scam offers as a result.

"The email was as a result of social media post which I asked for further information on"
That's the first red flag.
"The email came from register@hloffer.com"
That's the second red flag.
"As a trusted name in the investment sector" "As a leading investment firm", etc
Run for the hills!
