Parkingeye charged Credit Card without consent.
Hi all
End of March we parked in a car park, in a proper space, paid 8hr fee via Ringo App. Left the car park at least 30 minutes before time was up.
Have had zero correspondence from Parkingeye since.
Over the weekend our credit card statement came in and around 10 days after the parking fee payment there is another payment to Parkingeye of £60.
To reiterate we had no contact from Parkingeye and have not authorised this payment.
To me it smacks of them taking a 40% discounted from £100 'fine'.
Cannot appeal online as we have no reference so can only contact them via their PO Box.
Are today writing to them asking them to explain, with full details what this £60 charge is for.
Question is, should they insist we made the payment, is there a way of proving that the payment was taken without our knowledge or consent?
Thanks

How are the transactions showing. Is it showing the initial parking as RINGO and then this £60 as PARKING EYE?

Both are showing as Parkingeye

Well in the absence of an invoice of any kind I would be contacting your credit card company.

Just to be clear, you used the same credit card to pay for your parking on the day?

Use PEye's complaints policy and threaten to report them to the BPA and Trading Standards as well as your MP.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

In addition to what @Coupon-mad posted you MUST report the transaction to the fraud department of your card provider and demand, not ask for, a refund.

Yes it was the same card.

Should I do that at the same time or wait for a respose from Parkingeye first?

Personally, I'd log the complaint to your bank/card issuer first - the sooner you do that, the better (you do have up to 13 months to report it, but it's best to do it fast while the details are still fresh in your mind).
ParkingEye's response can be forwarded to your bank/card issuer later - the bank/card issuer may be more successful in getting ParkingEye to respond since they probably have a bigger legal department of their own and that of Mastercard/Visa/Amex (whichever brand your card is).

Just checking - it is not possible that an additional card holder picked up the invoice and paid with their card on your credit card account?
