BW Legal Letter of Claim - UK Car Park Management - £170

Hi,

First time poster here and I'm doing my best to get it right. I know there are other threads on here in regards to BW Legal sending Letter of Claim and according to the Newbies thread, I should just send them a template email to get lost, however, I just wanted to make sure that that template still applies.

Here's what I got

WhatsApp Image 2026-04-27 at 10.50.36.jpeg WhatsApp Image 2026-04-27 at 10.50.36 (1).jpeg

I don't have any clue what the offence was, my best guess is me parking outside of my own garage! It is one of those garage complexes that is detached from the block of flats. There are marked parking spaces right next to them but there were none left when I needed to park so I assumed there's no harm blocking my own garage. I have a residential parking permit clearly displayed on my vehicle for the area I was parked in. Unlike a retailer, I don't even know who to send a complaint to in this case to take down the charge.

What I find cheeky is this supposedly happened a year ago, some sign went up on 21/05/25 and I was presented with a PCN 2 days later on 23/05/2025! I'm not disputing if I got the PCN or not, at the time I think I laughed it off and binned it.

This is what I've prepared to email, I would appreciate another pair of eyes on this:

Dear Sir/Madam,

Your Reference: XXXXXXXX

I write in response to your Letter of Claim dated DD MM 2026 regarding the alleged parking charge notice issued on 23/05/2025 at the so-called <Named area>.

For the avoidance of doubt, I will be paying exactly zero. I will be vigorously defending any claim brought against me on the basis that the signage at the car park was inadequate and did not clearly set out the terms and conditions alleged to have been breached. I dispute that any contractual licence was properly granted or that the terms and conditions were sufficiently brought to my attention.

Please provide:

- A copy of the PCN

- Evidence of my alleged failure to comply with any terms and conditions.

- A copy of the contract between UK Car Park Management Limited and the landowner authorising enforcement and the issuing of parking charge notices at the site.

- Evidence of compliance with the relevant Parking Code(s) of Practice.

I remind you of your obligations under the Civil Procedure Rules Pre-Action Protocol for Debt Claims. Please ensure that all requested documents and information are provided before any proceedings are commenced.

I do not admit the debt and dispute liability for the reasons stated above. Please treat this letter as my formal response under the Pre-Action Protocol.

Please confirm and acknowledge receipt of this email.

Yes that's fine but BW Legal emails mostly bounce. I think there is one that works. Maybe complaints@

BWLEGAL should refresh themselves on the Supreme court ruling and NOT add fake amounts such as the £70

Thanks, I've emailed. No bounceback but also no reply. What happens if I don't get any replies by the deadline they have given me to respond?

They are likely to issue an N1SDT Money Claim pack from the CNBC in Northampton using MCOL in the post, to your address ( a court claim. )

Then you defend it, same as everyone else

Obviously it might (or might not) then move to a claim form but these stages are easy to handle and are explained in both the MSE official Guide linked at the top of the page, and in post 2 of the NEWBIES thread.
