Calculating Capital Gains liability in advance of selling
I've had a Moneyfarm General Investment Account for several years. I would now like to sell some assets, but do not want to go over my annual Capital Gains allowance.
I have tried to make sense of the HMRC HS284 guidance, but it is not easy reading!
Over the years Moneyfarm have made many acquisitions and disposals, but only in the last couple of years, have they documented them together with the Section 104 pool values.
To disinvest, you state the amount, and assets are sold to achieve that at the next trading cycle. You cannot state which assets are sold.
So my question is:
If I cannot specify which assets are sold how can I apply the section 104 rules before the sale proceeds to asses the CGT liability?
I have put this question to Moneyfarm, they have not replied.
Thanks.

You need documentation of all the acquisitions and disposals to calculate your CGT. Chase Moneyfarm for that. As far as filling your CGT allowance is concerned, you could transfer your Moneyfarm account to a decent platform, and sell whatever you need to sell there.
