Hello, i have a live in carer 24 hours a day and so now get full housing benefit. Because i was honest and notified them , firstly they have given me 100 % housing benefit, secondly reduced my benefit by over £40 a month.
Told i cannot appeal the decision
It just does not make sense
Anyone else in a similar situation and if so were they able to recoup there lost benefit?

Can't help with the actual query but wanted to suggest that you apply for attendance allowance if you are eligible and don't already get it. At least it would offset the deduction as AA doesn't affect any benefits as far as I'm aware.

The OP has not mentioned their age so it is not possible to say whether they could eligible for PIP or attendance allowance.
What reason have you been given for the deduction? Is the living carer a paid professional, or a family member/friend?
It sounds like it could be the non-dependent deduction which the person should be paying towards themselves if it is due.
What other benefits do you get?

Who told you that you cannot appeal?
If you disagree with Housing benefit decision, you can write to them within 1 month (of the decision letter) and explain why you think it is wrong. If the council agree the original decision is wrong, they will sent you a new decision letter (you can still appeal against the new decision). If the council believe their calculation is correct and therefore do not change their decision, your appeal can then be sent to Tribunal.
Have you requested a statement of reasons so you can understand how they have calculated your housing benefit?
Having a live in care usually would allow you to have an entitlement to an extra bedroom, though the council might also require evidence of PIP/AA.

wondering if this is related to council tax removal of the single person discount. The op just says benefit and does say the housing benefit is 100%
