I very much doubt that the service agents who handle calls and on-line chat have any knowledge of what their meter installers are doing. These installers probably get allocated a certain amount of time per visit so if one visit takes longer then expected then another might have to be sacrificed. Ideally the installer would have called to let you know but they probably don't like to take the flak when that happens.

Update - out of the blue my electricity meter has re-started reporting readings. Perhaps BG did something in the background, or maybe not!

I can see the usage through the BG app and the Bright app
then the only possible fix was for BG to fix their billing system so it could read your data.
