Certified copy of will

Before sending off the original will to probate office, is it advisable to get some certified copies of the will just in case?

Better safe than sorry. If you make 3 photocopies you should be able to get the post office to certify them all for about £12. Or get photocopies of 3 different documents you need to get done and they'll do all 3 for the same £12.

My mum's Will was held by her solicitor and when I arranged to collect it I asked them to make me a certified copy, which they did for no charge.

Just ensure that if making a copy you don't remove any fastenings (staples, paper clips etc) as that might result in queries from the Probate Office and delay things.
