I’m thinking closer to the time, do I contact Lastminute first and then my hotel? Or contact my hotel first so they are aware and then lastminute. Also I feel like if I contact the hotel too close to when I go, they may not look at it or respond in time

You confirmed in an earlier post that you booked a ‘package’. In this case it is Lastminute.com that you should continue to deal with.

As above, you don't contact the hotel at all - as a package booking that you wish to terminate, you must instruct the package provider (i.e. Lastminute) of this and there's no point in separately talking to hotels, airlines, etc.

Will do. Just noticed that lastminute have stopped doing packages for Dubai now too.
