Problem with Ebay International Delivery

I sold an item to a German Buyer through the GSP. The buyer raised a return request when it was delivered claiming the item was damaged.

Immediately I was offered the option of them returning the item and me providing a postage label or a full refund.

As I have 100% feedback I opted for the full refund. The item was sent to the GSP through simple delivery. As I wasn't at my computer at the time when I got home I discovered that Ebay is responsible for the delivery after it has been received safely through GSP.

Meaning that I did not have to refund the buyer hence I am now £25 out of pocket. I have tried raising this with customer service and all they tell me is that the decision needs to come from Ebay Germany and there is nothing they can do.

Does anyone have any experience of this and can provide insight as to how I can proceed or raise it as a complaint with EBay I have chased this 3 times over the past week and they keep telling me I will get a response in 48 hours.

Many Thanks in advance.

I would go through to the eBay help and select the "request a callback" option.

I had a similar thing where an overseas GSP buyer wanted to cancel the order after the item had been shipped and was in the GSP.

The phone advisors seem far more efficient than the chat services.

In my case, they ended up refunding the buyer out of their own pocket and let me keep the money, so refunding postage shouldn't be too much of a stretch. Though obviously your mileage may vary.

    • The rich buy assets.
    • The poor only have expenses.
    • The middle class buy liabilities they think are assets.

    Thanks for your input.

I have requested three callbacks and they all tell me the same thing.

The refund request has to be initiated with the German Ebay Office they are unable to assist further.

I have requested this three times and so far Ive hit a brick wall.

I was hoping someone maybe able to provide some way of me complaining about the situation.

I suspect this won't work once seller has given the refund . I'm sure we've all done something similar, try to offer a good service and completely doing ourselves out of money.

OP, I suspect there is nothing that can be done now, and I further suspect they are referring you to Germany ebay just to get you off the phone, which is a habit of ebay CS.

With hindsight, just calling when you get a claim reminding ebay they need to deal with it is the way forward, should you ever be in this unfortunate oposition again.
