Toilet pipe

Just had a new toilet fitted. Is there any way of making this pipe look prettier?

Before making it look prettier, make sure the installation is complete.

Is the white pipe from the toilet sealed into the brown pipe into the floor? It needs to be sealed to prevent odour returning from the sewer.

What is the flexible silver pipe? Is that the fill pipe to the cistern?

How is the connection from the white pipe to the brown pipe sealed?

It doesn't look sealed in the photo.

It's sealed a bit further down in the pipe.

There will be rubber fins on the new pipe to seal it.

To answer your question, I'd stick some sealant around the gap between the pipes at the top and paint the old one white. Grout around the bottom of the pipe at the back and seal it all around later.

I'd be cross about this unless you did it yourself 😐

You can disguise it. A white collar from a bathroom parts place might fit the top. If not rub down the rough edges or they'll catch your fingers and the dirt.

See if you can clean up the outside of the pipe and use Fablon or all purpose paint. White.

A cleaner and toothbrush to remove the pencil marks.

Use paper to fill the floor gap 2/3s of the way and top with filler. Close to the tiles finish with silicone, white or grey.

The plumber left holes around mine and it's a pita to finish as nice as the rest of the bathroom but I forgave him because it was a small area indoors and a heatwave but he stuck at it.

I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Google for a 'toilet rosette' it's the type of trim you need. They clip on, just check the height.

If you paid somebody to do that job then get them back to finish it off properly.

If you pour water down around that white pipe as it enters the larger pipe, does it flow away? If so, it ain't air-tight and needs improving.

It's not helped by the pan connector being pulled too far forward on the pan spigot, so the white pipe doesn't enter the orange one 'straight'. But, if you push the pan connector back too far, it might pop off!

How to tart it up? Nice one, Lorian
