Advice required - no electricity bills, new build house
my fiance and i moved into a new build house last january. since then we haven't received a single electricity bill. according to the housing association we have the house through, british gas supply our electricity but every time i have phoned them they have told us our property is "de-energized". at one point i did manage to get a letter and email from british gas to confirm that they would be supplying our gas and electricity, they have started doing our gas but not our electricity.
a british gas guy came round to my mum's house a while ago and she brooched the subject with him about the property being de-energized but he didn't have a clue what this meant.
i was told a few months ago by my previous admin manager that for homes if you don't receive a bill within 2 years of attempting to get a supplier then you don't have to pay (i've seen on another post tonight that someone has said this is the case after 1 year). can anyone tell me if this is right and advise on what we can do?
obviously with us being in our new & first home for nearly a year and the house running on mostly electricity then the bill is going to be fairly high, which is very worrying, but every attempt i have made at trying to get british gas to supply our electricity has just not gone through - we are obviously receiving electricity from somewhere at the moment but where is anyone's guess to be honest!!
any advice would be greatly appreciated

Have you contacted your regional electricity supplier to check they are still supplying you?

Tells you what to look for.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

Have a look at the energywatch site and ask the question - electricity supplier - this will give you contact details for your regional distributor and they will be able to tell you who your current provider is....

i'm sure i've already done this and we've been told that our electricity supplied IS british gas which is why we went with them in the first place. i've got 2 different confirmations, 1 letter and 1 email, from british gas to say that they will be/are supplying are gas & electricity but the electricity just doesn't seem to have been done at all.
the last time we contacted them they told us that, although we'd had a letter to confirm our electricity had been set up, they had no record of it. i've also got an email to say that both g&e were set up through them (can't remember though if this was before or after the last call) and to start expecting bills, which, as i have said, we have received for the gas but not for the electricity0 -

when you contact BG tell the MPAN and serial number this should match up with your address but it might also come under a plot number which can cause another headache as you have to ask them to merge the address and plot number to create a correct account.0 -
i've already provided BG with the MPAN &/or serial number. from this they then confirmed that are electricity had been set up. it is from this point that we now do not know what to do as they have confirmed to us twice the the electricity is set up and yet we haven't received a bill from them, nearly a year after us moving into the property0

Ring energywatch and complain that your electricity supplier is refusing to bill you. Have the proof with you when you ring that you have complained BG and they are your supplier. http://www.energywatch.org.uk/contact_us/index.aspI'm not cynical I'm realistic
