Debenhams gift card not received

I’d like some advice on what course of action I can’t take. I ordered items from Debenhams totalling £160. I made the payment via Klarna.

I returned the items which they confirmed they received. I selected a refund in the form of a gift card which I haven’t received. I’ve contacted Debenhams and they state that the gift card was sent to me via email. I have perused all of my folders and I haven’t ever received this. It’s a large amount of money and not something I would have missed. They’re refusing to issue me a new one stating that it’s beyond the 3 month expiration period.

Can anyone advise me on what I can do as £160 is a huge amount of money and I cannot pay this without receiving the gift card.

What do you refer to by "the 3 month expiration period"?

When did you agree to the refund by gift card and when did you notify Debenhams that the gift card had not been received?

3 months is a short validity for a gift card.

Are you sure you gave them the correct email address? I recall a post some time ago where someone had signed up for something with an @googlemail email address that had subsequently become an @gmail address but of course the retailer only had the former on their system.

In my experience both email addresses go into my googlemail inbox.
