Can't transfer songs from iphone

Hello friendly techie people
I'm asking this on behalf of my sister (who can afford the soon to be mentioned items)...
She had a laptop onto which she had downloaded lots of music (legally) It started to play up and she transfered all her music to her iphone. Her laptop went completely belly up and she has just bought a new PC (running Vista)
However, she can't now transfer any music back to her PC. If she connects her iphone to the PC, it will wipe the iphone but not transfer anything.
Is there any way she can transfer her tracks back onto her PC for free? Apparently she has 1000 tracks on there :eek:
Any help appreciated
