Cadent moved meter too near electrics

When Cadent 'upgraded to gas supply to our house, against my wishes, they moved the gas meter to another wall making the meter difficult to read and the pipework to it is not neat as it was before. At the time, I was unable to have the strength to argue as my seriously ill father, who I cared for was in his last weeks. I complained and an engineer was sent out to look and deemed it safe but would not enter into the issue of access and the moving of the meter from somewhere ok for us to somewhere not ok. We are now having some work done to the house and the electrician has said the meter is too close to the electrics. I'm beginning to think is this done to force us to spend nearly £1000 to have it moved. Does this look an issue that they should sort out?

The black box is not yours it the electricity suppliers box, so no your electrician can't move it. Looks close, but no closer than my gas and electric meters are.

Sheenas, the issue isn't that the electric box too close it's that the Gas meter was moved too close to the electrics. There are regulations as to how near gas supply can be to electrical equipment (150mm.) I'm being required to pay to sort it out when it was Cadent who moved the Gas meter.

It looks like the incoming gas pipe is the closest to the electricity supply, not the gas meter itself.
