How long does it take to receive V5 when applying with a V62 form?

I'm thinking of buying a car at auction without any documents. This lot is part of a deceased estate. Normally i would not consider purchasing without a V5 but I know this auctioneer sells items of this type and repossessions regularly so not too worried about it being on finance or stolen. It would come with a business sales invoice.

Has anyone had recent experience of DVLA and how long it will take to send the V5?

Reading about the process online it tells me I need to send an invoice with the application but the form doesn't ask for one. Will I just attach a copy of this to the V62 form?

Thank you for your suggestions and help

Dave

If you send a copy, and it is not needed, what is the worst that could happen?

It takes about 6 weeks for a straightforward issue of a V5 to a new keeper with a V62 form.

Opinions differ, even amongst Post Offices, but it may (or may not…) be possible to tax the car if you take the V62 and the £25 fee for the V5 to a Post Office, but only at that instant. Otherwise you must wait for the V5 in your name. (clause F on the form)

The 6 week wait is because DVLA write to the last known keeper and give them 28 days to object from receipt, so if they don't respond the 28 days has to time out before a new V5 is issued.

I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
