Most ihds will give total readings for electric.

Not sure re gas and then if m3 or kWh though if does. But I'm sure it would say if does give it.

With an IHD and a working pair of meters (and communications hub), you can access the meter readings - kWh for electricity and m³ for gas.

My electricity meter stopped working back in July last year. Spent a couple of months arguing with Octopus about the fault, and eventually got the meter replaced in the middle of September. Then spent another 3 months of complaining to get a working IHD… Didn't get charged for electricity usage whilst the meter wasn't working and got offered a small sum as compensation. Estimate I haven't been billed for around £90 of electricity. Not going to poke the beast.

did they just forget to bill you? Was the compensation under the Guaranteed Standards for Performance?

I got billed standing charges only. Electricity consumption was based on the meter reading which had been stuck on the same number for ~3 months. Not my place to remind them that usage in that period would have added another ~£90 to the bill.

The comp was for the aggro of getting the IHD working again. But I'll take the unbilled electricity as compensation for the delays in replacing the meter.
