Amex points exchange
Hi have an amex card with 60000 points. Going to cancel it soon before fee is due. What's the best value way to transfer the points to I was thinking one of the travel partners ??? I know I can downgrade the card to a free one but I would rather apply for another one when a welcome offer comes up ?

I have no idea about transferring the points but do remember that there will be a time delay before you can be eligible for new customer incentives.

We convert our Amex Avios points into Nectar points. These can be used in a variety of places.

Using a BA Amex card? Any particular reason for collecting Avios if not using for travel credit?
Amex Membership Rewards Points can convert to various other loyalty schemes (Avios, other airline loyalty schemes, Marriott Bonvoy, Hilton Honours, Nectar Points) or gift cards or statement credit. The various conversions give different value to a Membership point and can often be boosted by special offers.
This article/website gives more detail in frankly more detail that anyone outside sites like MSE would find borderline obsessive.
Bottom line? Avios, Virgin etc good; credit/Nectar bad (when just considering "value", obviously Avios are of no use if you never travel on BA, Iberia or Qatar airlines).

Who do you typically travel with? 60,000 MR points isnt a particularly large amount but would be a couple of BA flights within Europe
Remember that as soon as they are out of AmEx they have a lifespan, BA is 2 years for example.

Your 60,000 avios points are worth £300 in Nectar points, handy if you shop in Sainsburys

Or if you fancy a last minute trip to Rome then for £4 and 52,000 MR points you are getting a couples return that cash would cost you £950.50 plus as an Reward booking it would be flexible unlike the cash price

Where dis you see that ? Iv read there are sometimes promotions to to boost your avios/ rewards or am I wrong there ? Where would I see these ?

It used to be fairly common, promotional emails would say that transfers between X and Y days would get 1.5 avios per MR rather than the normal 1 but in recent years they have been much much rarer, can't remember the last one.
If you missed the email it would also show on the screens around MR transfers, typically it would show the normal 1→1 but the second 1 crossed out with the new higher 1.5 or whatever. Obviously a bit of pain to check those screens regularly.
