Just did an AI google, MyRealNameToo.

Don't know how accurate it is…. (it is a little small when I cut and paste!) I wonder if the Poster had an older connection within the dreaded Chain structure.

Poster above said they had an NHP Policy but they googled it and came up with St Andrews! The plot thickens.

It just goes to show, how important it is to keep old Policy Documents, to be sure. And longer than 6 years.

Yes, Sainsbury's Bank previously offered home insurance underwritten by Halifax General Insurance Services Limited

Sainsbury’s Bank +1Key details regarding this partnership include:

    • Policy Identification: Older Sainsbury's home insurance policies with numbers starting with "NHP" or "SBY" were administered by Halifax General Insurance Services.
    • Transition: In 2012, Sainsbury's moved its home insurance underwriting from Halifax to Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS).

Policies beginning with "HBP" were associated with Lloyds Bank Insurance Services Limited, which is part of the same group as Halifax.

PS Another AI search, again I don't know how accurate, throws up a Panel of Insurers when 2024 is searched.

I have just phoned Sainsburys Insurance and the man said that Lloyds has always been my underwriter, including back in 2016 when the drains were checked and repaired. He said that every year when my policy has come up for renewel that they have checked for any risks and that this is the same procedure which will happen this time. He said that if I were a new prospective client for Lloyds Insurance, that he would offer me a policy. But he couldnt say for definite if they will or not and that I won't know till the start of June, which for me feeling so anxious feels like ten years away.

Hold onto the Hope Jussi23. And do keep a copy of your telephone conversation, with full details. In case you ever feel the need to have to take to FOS. (And try and find your own documentation, too.)

I am also in the same state as you… waiting to see what will be done, but I also will not know until June/July.

Mine is somewhat worse than yours at this stage, as mine would definitely be with a new Insurer that will have been asked to cover me. But I do worry about whether the price will be high. And also, whether the Subsidence excess will be more than the standard 1,000 pounds.

Please keep us informed and wishing you all the best.

I didn't record the telephone conversation because I wouldn't really know how to, but it would have been good to have had a copy. I will also look for as much documentation as I can. I am really sorry that your policy will definitely be with a new insurer and hope that you find one who will make you an offer and that you don't have to pay too much. Are you also asking around for quotes just incase you might need to find an insurer yourself? I am thinking of doing this, just incase. How long is it since you claimed for saubsidence?

Write a note to yourself of who you spoke today, what was said and the time and date.

I have a feeling you will get one with Lloyds. If it was me, I would only start looking into other quotes, if you have not had any news at 3 weeks out from your Policy renewal and you feel that some stalling might be going on.

Mine was August 2018. In my mind, my strategy is to accept the new offer (if it is not too outrageous). As the original Insurer is supposed to set something up for us when they exit the market. So I want to stick with that if at all possible. (I have had confirmation from them on this, but no details until renewal.)

If the new one has quoted truly outrageous cost and conditions, I would likely approach the Ombudsman, to see what their view is on the subject.

I also have in my mind, that 10-year thing with Lloyds. So, I shall do a review after Year 10.

I am truly grateful, that I have at least managed to get to 7 full years with the original insurer. It could have been worse than that.

PS It will be much better for you to go via Lloyds directly if you can, to get a Lloyds Policy, rather than through these everchanging intermediaries, like Sainsburys etc,

You just need to record the details of the call, date, time number called from, number called to and ideally the name of the person you spoke to but that one is less important. Generally the FOS looks dimly on financial services companies who can't produce a copy/transcript from a call if you've been able to give sufficient details to mean they should be able to relatively easily find it… its different if you can only say you called a number around late 2025 maybe early 2026 as thats needle in a haystack time
