Don't F*** With Paste
…is the name of my Chrome browser extension that stops websites from disabling paste functionality, primarily on login pages.
It's being flagged by a couple of minder programs as "risky", anyone able to recommend a replacement?

Haha, love the name of it. It does frustrate me when I can't paste on a website.

Hi
This extension is also available for Mozilla web browsers.User comment says...
"You don't need this - don't use an addon that has access to your copy/paste and does who knows what with it.In about:config, set dom.event.clipboardevents.enabled to false.
No Addon needed."So maybe there are similar config settings for Chrome in...

I do primarily use Firefox. Wasn't aware something like this existed.
Would be very handy for some websites.
Everyone goes on about secure passwords & password managers. All well & good until you have a 20 character password made up of total randomness & the website doesn't allow you to paste.

It's poor form for websites to block right click things but to get around it, once you've copied whatever you need to, just use "Shift + Insert" instead.

That's just another shortcut for the same Paste function, doesn't work. Try it with the Santander/Cahoot sites (if you have accounts)/

What's the issue? I use it. It is open source. I've reviewed the fairly minimal javascript used to perform the functions of the extension. It simply does what it says on the tin and overrides the hijack attempt made by the misguided website. Even though I use Firefox, this is a handy extension as it can be targeted to specific problem sites.
Have you considered removing the "minder programs"? Such programs can bring their own risks.

No issue as such, the extension works just as it says.
Just curious to see if people use another method or extension.
The minder program (Norton's Safe Web) makes such rare appearances that I tend to at least be more wary around resources that it has concerns about. Were it not free with my broadband package then it would be gone.

If you were willing to move over to Firefox, then you could probably do a DIY job of this using the Greasemonkey or Tampermonkey extensions. Or use uBlock Origin (now neutered on Chromium based browsers) to block the relevant script - although this would probably break other things.
Easiest option would be to create an exception in your Norton (🤢) tool.

What site does it not work on? I've never found a site that it doesn't work on. Two examples who do disable 'right click' functionality are Cumberland BS and Market Harborough BS but both work with 'shift + Insert'
Santander and Cahoot both allow right click and paste functionality.
