Moorside Legal NCP Court Claim
Hi, hoping someone can advise. My son has had a Letter of Claim from Moorside Legal for £170.00 for National carparks Ltd. There isn't any information on the letter as to where the claim is from, date of the alleged offence etc. There has been no prior communication regarding a parking ticket and my son has no clue as to where it's from. We are wondering if this could possibly be a scam as we have never heard of this company before, could anyone point us in the right direction please. He dosent want to pay if it is a scam on the other hand if he has genuinely parked somewhere he shouldn't then he wants to clear it. We're a bit dubious about ringing the number in case it is a scam

He'll never have to pay it anyway, but it is a 'real' letter from a scam industry.
The first of two.
The most common cause of not receiving PCNs then being traced to a new address by a debt crawler is that the registered keeper has failed to update their V5C logbook address when they moved. He MUST address that urgently with the DVLA.
Anyway like I said there are 2 letters from Moorside and he replies to the SECOND one. I can tell this is the first

Coupon-Mad. thank you. It will be registered in his current address as he bought the van several years after moving into his house so the address isn't new. Thanks for the info, there are so many scams going around at the moment we weren't sure. He just needs to know the details now because he has no memory of not getting a ticket or running over time anywhere. Thank you

But none of that matters.

"He just needs to know the details now because he has no memory of not getting a ticket or running over time anywhere"
Parking companies use all sorts of dodgy tactics and terms and conditions it could be: parked over the line, in an unmarked bay, not paid in a ridiculous short time frame, parked after hours, incorrect VRN entered, unauthorised parking, double dip, ANPR misread, parked in a loading bay, over stay, etc etc in fact anything they try on at the time, including leaving site on foot.
Dodgy parking companies have developed these underhand ways of scamming people over the last decade or so, and a dodgy industry of second rate solicitors, half baked debt collectors, supported by two parking clubs run by clowns has evolved.
You unfortunately have to play their silly game of Poker to win but don't blink or they will win by default. @Coupon-mad is on the ball along with other regulars on here who will guide you through these murky waters.

Hope the OP knows that Moorside is lying to you about the fake add-on £70. The parking ticket was £100 NOT £170
This is a feeble attempt of DOUBLE RECOVERY which is not allowed. In turn if they issue a court claim for £170 they will be lying to the court

Thank you all. I will go and search but can I ask, should he contact them for the details of the parking offence, don't they have to provide this? Or should he just wait for the second letter coupon-mad?

I have looked through the newbies section but have no idea which section we need as we haven't a clue what the ticket is for? I know you said to wait for the next letter but want to be armed for when it arrives

Its usually better to be in the dark about these cases, plausible deniability. !
The time for enlightenment is usually after a defence has been submitted, possibly after the case is transferred to the local civil court , that can be the point for being suitably armed, not these earlier skirmishes
Picking the time and place and obtaining knowledge should be carefully planned at the appropriate time
Now is NOT that time !

Why not just read other Moorside threads, which is why I said "Search the forum for the obvious keywords".
