Euro Car Parks and DCB Legal Discontinuance

My experience with Euro Car Parks goes back to February 2025. I made two visits a few days apart to the car park of a disused building, first to drop off a PC at a repair shop and a second to pick it up again.

I didn't see any cameras even though I looked for one so I assumed it was warden patrolled. There was a sign at the entrance although not at drivers level and there wasn't a sign visible from where I parked. My two visits totalled 14 minutes and should have cost 60p X 2 I later found out.

Anyway along came the penalty charge notices and from then on in I just followed the advice on this forum. I just ignored their begging letters that were designed to look scary, refused to answer their phone calls.

Got the Court Claim form in September 2025, by now they were wanting £481.84!! Submitted my defence largely in line with the template in the newbies thread, it didn't take long to do. Had the mediation call where I offered the £1.20 for my 14 minutes to which they countered with £200 so I refused.

Got a Court date of May 6th 2026. Continued to ignore phone calls, sometimes 3 or 4 a day.... I could have just blocked but I wanted to see how desperate they were getting. Then today I get the N279 Notice of discontinuance!

So, just wanted to say thanks to all involved on the forum. What annoys me more than anything is what a complete waste of everyones time this is. My advice to anyone on the start of this journey is read the forum.... my wife is amazed that I predicted everything that would happen before it did. Just don't engage with this parking firm or their representatives at all, file a defence if it gets that far, answer the mediation call and offer nothing then just sit back and wait for it to be discontinued.

I would just like to say that everyone thinks that their case is unique. It isn't. It's highly unlikely that whatever the situation is then it hasn't been covered here and even in the unlikely event that it hasn't then the responses are still the same.

The Mods here must get so fed up with answering the same questions that they just refer to the newbies thread. Go read that first and you may not even need any help from the community… I didn't,

To these parking companies you are just a number that follows the same routine. They are not interested in your grievances against them no matter how justified you feel you are. Follow the advice on the forum in the newbies thread, it's really clear. That's what I did for a nearly £500 charge and it was discontinued as predicted.

Don't be a wannabee lawyer just follow the steps outlined and most important don't get stressed about this stuff. These are not 'fines'… only the Council can issue fines. They are invoices and you don't need to pay them.
