Dynamo breakdown auto renewal
My daughter took out breakdown from dynamo last year and never received a renewal email so forgot about it. It's only when I checked my credit card(I paid for it as she had lost her card at the time). and noticed they'd taken a £38 payment that we remembered.
She's checked everywhere in her emails but there's definitely no renewal. On looking in the portal it's not only charged near on £38 but there will also be £7.42 taken out monthly which will obviously be charged to my credit card 🤯
Initially I thought probably easier to take the hit as with cancellation fees and finding another policy it'll be about the same just remember to turn auto renewal off but as the policy was paid out in full last year I don't understand why there's a monthly fee on top of the £38 they've taken. Anyone else had this?
The policy renewed 3 days ago so in the 14 days so she'll be contacting them in her break but I guess as I've read terrible reviews and it's my card charged I'm frustrated as I can't deal with it as it's not my policy 🤯

What was she told originally about renewals? Really best to rely on your own diary rather than hope they'll send you a reminder.

I'm pretty sure it will have said it automatically renews and usually she is very good at turning the auto renewal off if there is one. With it being her fault for not turning it off then I would pay the £38 and put it down to experience and make sure she remembers to turn it off. I'm not prepared to pay an ongoing monthly fee if £7.50 as well as the £38 already taken for a policy that was originally taken out as an annual policy.
It's my credit card the payments are coming from and I know it's the payment method on record but it was for a one off payment last year not to be charged again.1 -
Slightly off topic, but this is one reason not to pay for things like this for anyone else. If you want to pay for them, then send them the money & let them pay out of their own account.

yes I would normally do that just in this instance she'd lost her card. It looks like the only way is to cancel the policy to which they basically take £35 out of the £38 as it's seems impossible to talk to a human being 🙄. I've stopped any more payments on my card (hopefully) and I can put a chargeback request in but I'm not sure how that affects my daughters credit rating 🫤

If they operate auto renewal, then lost card is no issue, they simply request new card details & take payment that way.
