Morning folks and thanks SCARLET for starting us off. Grr just as I thought I was starting to sleep a bit better I was back to a tossing and turning night again last night.
I ended up quite a busy bee (by my standards anyway!) yesterday and ended the afternoon finally getting to the end of sorting out mostly unnecessary paperwork and getting it all shredded. Today is Friday Tidy day with a dust and vac up and down. There is some washing to do but as rain is never far away these days I think it will go on the airer.
The freezer got a semi tidy yesterday so that will resume today. It beats me how it gets into such turmoil when I do my best to be organised!
Have a good day folks if you can with ((HUGS)) for all in need. RUBY I hope you manage to come to an arrangement with your mum's care. It's such a worry when life gets a struggle for elderly parents. I remember my late DM trying to fry sausages whilst still in the packet! The kitchen was full of smoke and the frying pan beyond redemption when I called in after work. Take care all, be safe x

Morning again, it seems dull and damp here, don't think it's cold though.
Hope you're all right after you had your car bumped Mehefin, must have given you a bit of a turn.
Ruby, it's nice that you had a good day with Matt, and I'm pleased to hear that your dd is getting her own place. Hope you'll get paid by O's Mum, I don't know how she dare withhold the money. Also, I hope you can get something sorted out with your Mum's meals , difficult isn't it, when parents become unable to care for themselves properly.
Izzy, I was once called for jury service as a reserve, then after a few weeks was told that I wouldn't be needed. Just as well, as by the time the case came up I was unexpectedly in hospital so couldn't have done it anyway.
Had a good morning in Newcastle yesterday with Dil's mum, it was good to see her.
I went to the bus station to come home but security chaps were keeping everyone out, but we only had to wait a few minutes, before they let us in. Something had obviously happened. It must have been something to do with a little gang of teenage boys who were surrounded by the security men.
Not a lot on today I'm glad to say. I'm very tired because of not sleeping well. TA, I see that you've had a bad night as well, I know that are we are in the same boat, veterans in the non sleeping club!
Hope everyone has a good day, take care folks.

morning all ,hope all those problems are getting sorted out
Ruby ,my late mother thought half a packet of M&S sandwiches was more than sufficient for a main meal !When challenged by the consultant geriatrician she looked at me and said “well I don’t want to get fat like her “! Thanks mother I’ve just battled the early mornings A1 traffic for an hour to get to take you to this appointment !
Am going on a boat trip on the Broads today ,looks like it’s going to rain soon .
Stay safe all

Morning all though 'good' would be stretching it!
Thursday was peaceful apart from the rain hammering down. I enjoyed the second half of the liver with fried onions and veggies. For today I have chicken bits in the microwave, once done I'll shred it.
Last night my nephew, Lawrence, phoned me, we chatted for over an hour. Lots of stuff about their time in QLD, how wonderful it all was and also the post-holiday blues. This was probably the final time I'm paying for it as I need to conserve my funds for my old(er) age, just in case I need care.
Reading about @RedRuby1231's beloved mum shows what could be ahead. I hope that you can sort things out for her even if she doesn't think she needs it. My beloved dad was always resistant to any kind of help, stubborn to almost the last - eventually I threatened to call the police to kick his door in if he didn't let the district nurses in! 😕 That worked.
Bad news about your car @mehefin though happy that you are unharmed. I hope that the rains hold off for you @Suffolksue and that you enjoy the boat trip.
Hugs to all, especially our poorlies and missing.x

Morning all
It’s a bit dull and overcast here with rain due later, I have a wash on the go which will have to go on the airer.
Thanks for all the good wishes re mum, Nancy she does not attend church so it’s looking like we will have to get paid carers in, my sister and I do as much as we can but as we both work it’s difficult to get there every day, we have applied to social services for an assessment of needs, we think someone going in for two hours at lunch time to cook her a meal and make a sandwich for her tea and make sure she has had her meds and injection would work, she is eating the wrong things and her blood sugars are dangerously high 😳 she is determined she doesn’t want to go in a home so this might be a good solution for now. Suffolk Sue 😳 I have had plenty of that from my mum, it seems they lose all social graces as they get older!
I have to go shopping today as the cupboards are bare, will decide on dinner after I have been, dd is working a late shift so just OH and I here for dinner, I also have to have a tidy / clean through this morning.
Enjoy your trip S Sue xx
Have good days all and take care xx9 -
Morning All
A quick one from me as I have the little one here wanting to play zoos upstairs, she's got all the little baskets that are about the house but apparently we need something more secure for the alligator!
The circus was really good yesterday until the LO got a sore tummy and felt sick (I think she was more than terrified of the big dragon/dinosaur), we only missed the last 20 minutes. She laughed more than I have ever seen her do at the slapstick clown (who didn't have make up on, just a red nose) and I gave in and bought her a dinosaur balloon!
We're staying in this morning, it's pouring down and the chimney sweep will be here some time after 10. Plenty we can do.
Sorry to hear your DMum's in hospital Ruby, hope you can get something sorted out.
Hope you're not too shaken up Mehefin.
Take care. XX

Morning all from dull Mehefinland
Saw the car doctor yesterday and got an eye watering estimate on the repair cost which i forwarded to the young girl who hit me! Got a call from her partner shortly afterwards asking if I would mind taking the car toa garage where he has a rellie working to get another quote. As they want to pay rather than go through the insurance procedure I'm happy to do that ( for now).I expect that she is a relatively new driver and the insurance is already heavy. so I understand. The offside rear door is dented and twisted and doesn't fit in the frame properly now, and the front door has a minor ding. As long as they can remove the dent and get the door to fit properly i will be reasonably happy - its a 63 plate car so it has its share of knocks and scrapes anyway.
Nobody was hurt, which is the main thing really.
My lady has offered to make a quilt as a wedding present for DS. I will pay for the material and she will do the graft. It is an extremely generous offer as I know the amount of work that goes into them is mind blowing. They have been told to pick the colours they want, and those they do not ( so tospeak) and she will design and make around that. I'm looking forward to seeing the process.
Hugs and spoons as always
Mehefin aka Derek

Morning all
Just back from shopping. I went to get a trolley last week and it wasn't working so got another one. It wasn't till I got to the checkout that I realised I'd left all my shopping bags on the trolley that didn't work. They were gone when I got outside. When I got to the checkout this week I asked if they had any specific cool bags that they used to sell. The lady said no they don't sell them any more so I mentioned how I lost mine last week. She went out the back and brought them out minus a couple. Someone must have handed them in so, result! There are some nice people about still, not just on here !!
Hope you get something sorted for your mum @RedRuby1231 Enjoy your boat trip @Suffolksue I enjoyed the same many years ago
Might go out into the garden later, will finish my coffee first!
Have a good day all x

Morning all, thanks @Scarlet for today's start off.
Mr Weatherman says today will be overcast with a light breeze, rain possible at almost any time and 'feels like' temperatures around 12 or 13 deg. Happily, there does look to be an improvement on the way over the next few days.
Not a lot happening today here, once the usual Friday admin and next week's meal plan have been done I can have a Please Myself day. I might even be inspired to make a start on the sewing pile! Tea tonight will be a basa fillet gently cooked in butter, peas & sweetcorn and potato croquettes.
@Ruby - It's difficult when elderly parents have care needs but want to stay independent in their own home so I hope your mum's needs assessment will provide a solution that helps her, you and your sister.
Good sleep vibes for those in the wide awake club - thankfully I'm not a member! 😁 Take care all, have a good day. X
Be kind to others and to yourself too.8
