DCB Legal Ltd, defence rejected and awaiting a directions questionnaire.
I sold my Vehicle to "We buy any car" in August 2025 and was told they would send of the new new owner part of the log book and that was that. I was due to go away shorty after the sale so funds cleared three days later and i presumed that was the legal tie to that vehicle over. A few months passed and at the end of December i received a letter from DCBL stating i'd exceeded the maximum duration at a carpark in Ruislip Retail Park HA40QB, client G24 LTD. It seems they initially tried to contact me at my old address in November 2025 and then obviously used the electoral register and found my current address. I called the number stating the facts of the sale and they requested i submit an appeal via the email provided on the letter with proof of the sale. Two weeks later i received an email back stating they couldn't allow me the 'Transfer of liability' because it had expired prior to their instruction from the client. I tried to call and explain i didn't own the car at the time of the said contravention, and they said to contact the DVLA and get them to provide a letter stating this, which when provided 5 weeks later they also rejected it saying their client would initiate a claim. I received the court papers and provided a defence on online portal and waited for a response all done within the required time limits. A few weeks passed so I called up DCBL asking for an update and they informed me that because I hadn't responded with defence the court had issued a CCJ, after going back and forth arguing and providing proof it had been submitted they then informed me they hadn’t received the defence, and would review it once they had. Which brings me to today I checked my junk email and found an email from “bulklitigation@dbcllegal.co.uk"and found that on the 6th of April had rejected my defence and said they would pursue for their client, and had attached a directions questionnaire from themselves, which I’m guessing I will also get one in the post shortly. Could anyone help or advise me, I’ve just lost a close relative and this is really adding to the overwhelming stress I’m dealing with. Im very close to just paying it but my pride is telling me different. Thanks in advance.

Sorry for your loss realise it's a difficult time but don't be paying. DCB Legal will discontinue but hope they can pressurise you into paying up before they do.

Best to stop contacting DCB Legal for updates. If you submitted your defence on MCOL keep checking your claim history for updates.
And follow THE FIRST 8 STEPS: outlined in first post of the Template defence Announcement thread.
In future always notify DVLA yourself when you sell your car never leave an individual or company to do it for you.
