Arnold Clark Data Breach compensation - Supreme Court ruling

Hi everyone, I’ve just watched an article on the BBC about the Supreme Court ruling in favour of Scottish customers. Does anyone know how to make a claim without going through a solicitor? I hope that Martin Lewis plans on guiding us through this!

Did you read the details of that judgement? It says that the matter can be raised in the Scottish courts as well as the English ones (where it is already under way).

No-one's handing out free money just yet.

IANAL but I think what happens here is that, because of the court it is being heard in (and potential appeals, etc) it would be unwise NOT to have it handled by a legal firm. I imagine the legal costs would be significant, but if won that would be potentially payable by the other side. And of course, it would be split amongst the hundreds/thousands of claimants.

The law firm handling it so far is Thompson's Solicitors.

Any other law firm would just be another step in the chain, taking a slice of their own I'd imagine.

I don't think this one is likely to have a compensation framework laid out, such as the car finance one, so it would be solicitors or your own legal action (which will probably be paused for a number of years, potentially).
