Extractor fan - can I get rid?

You can get humidity controlled fans which I believe will only come on when both switched on and when the humidity exceeds a set level. e.g. may not come on when going to the loo but would do if there was a build up of humidity from a shower.
I wouldn't take a fan out, I haven't got one and although I have the window open we still get a build up of mould. Plus on a cold windy day openeing the window is not very pleasant. Due to install one when we redo the bathroom0 -
we have humidity operated vents in the upstairs bathrooms. they require no power, only open when the air is damp and rely on the warm damp air rising through the vent to clear the bathroom .
