Bedworld such poor quality mattress, collapsed, help
I purchased a top of the range mattress Magnus 5000 from Bedworld 14 march 2025, delivered 20.3.2025, after a week, this was for my daughter and her fiance, she keeps falling off the mattress, the edges have collapsed, after 6 days i reported the fault to Bedworld, there did nothing about it. The mattress is now so awful it is dangerous, i notified bedworld on 23 march 2026 (just a few days out of warranty), they say they will offer me 25% off a new mattress, i have explained i am exercising my consumer rights as a mattress should last at least 7 years, they wil not repair, replace, refund. I just want a mattress that is safe and fit for purpose, can anyone help, apparently they are not part of the Furniture ombudsman nor trade associations, should i go to small claims, i paid by paypal credit, they have rejected my dispute. Paid £309.00
Help please :) thanks all

After this long, they could ask you to demonstrate it was always faulty and if you could do so, you would be entitled to a partial refund.
With apologies for the rather blunt opinion and delicate questions…
- £309 for a double mattress is towards the lower end of the quality range, so expectations of it lasting at least seven years need to be tempered.
- Is your daughter and/or fiance on the larger side….?
Ideally you would have taken more action a year ago, when you would have been in a much stronger position. As it is, you face the prospect of having to pay up-front for an independent inspection to hopefully demonstrate that it was constructed poorly and failed immediately, then send the retailer a letter before action and then go to court if needs be. All of that will take months, and might lead to perhaps a refund of half the price? The question is, is it worth it?

Thanks so much, yes i wished i did more at the beginning, the thing is i have two of these mattresses, still going strong 8 years later, beautiful, from AAA beds and they were amazing, best nights sleep, they tell me they make the magnus for Bedworld, and that they should have offered an option for reinforced edges but i wasn;t aware of this as when i purchased from AAA it just came as is, perfect. My daughter is 8 stone, her fiance Adam side is better an he is 6ft 1, about 12 stone, so really dont know whats happened. I have read many review on Trust Pilot saying same, that mattresses collapse, cant help but think got a dupe Magnus. Thanks so much for your help :) I would accept half refund but they will not do anything further.

Is it sat on a sprung edge divan with failing springs perhaps?

Sorry OP but at that price, that is very much a budget mattress. I arranged a delivery for a customer last week of a mattress… £11k. That is top of the range. Our mattress cost around £1000 if I remember correctly and I would class that as middle of the road.
In any event, you would need to show there is a manufacturing fault to have any chance of a claim with the retailer.
