Annual travel insurance ending before holiday starts

I have annual holiday insurance and have booked a holiday that will start after that insurance ends. Do I need to renew the insurance or buy another policy in case I need to cancel the holiday or make a claim after the current insurance ends or will that insurance cover me, as it was in place when I booked the holiday.

You will need to take out a new policy that is in place up to and during the holiday (though your current one will cover you if anything comes up until it expires).

The fact you booked the holiday while under the policy is irrelevant.

Take out a new policy to commence when the existing one ends.

If you are happy with your existing policy perhaps you should look into renewing it seamlessly on the current expiry date.

In my (limited) experience travel insurance companies are onside to such approaches.

You need to read the policy terms, some cheaper policies now only cover holidays that will incur during the policy period so were you to fall ill tomorrow meaning you won't be able to go on the holiday they won't cover it because its occurring after the policy ends.

Better quality ones will cover future holidays that are beyond the term of the policy if the cause of you not travelling happens during the policy period.
