Car Accident Claim on CUE Database Twice
Hi
Apologies for the long read but I'm hoping someone knows if they are correct?
I had a claim on my car insurance last year, my named driver was driving at the time and was at fault.
Car Insurance renewal came and even declaring the accident I got a much cheaper quote so decided to move to the new insurance company.
The new insurance company contacted me and said that I had 2 claims recorded against me on the CUE database, both the exact same details just different drivers but I had only declared one so they will need to increase the insurance by £50. I tried explaining that I there had only been 1 claim on my insurance. They told me to contact my insurance company and get them to remove one of the claims.
I contacted my insurance company and they have told me that there should be 2 entries, 1 under my name as it was my car insurance and 1 under my named driver as he was driving at the time of the accident.
Does anyone know if this is correct or do I need to contact CUE myself or the Omsbudman?
Many thanks

Is the named driver who was at fault on your new insurance?

Yes they are on my new policy and the accident we had has been added under his details.

Its not the normal way of doing things but have you asked them to put it in writing that this is their standard practice for incidents involving named drivers and that there was only actually one claim despite the two CUE records? Hopefully that would keep your new insurers happy (and keep a copy of it for future use)

Did you get that answer by a phone advisor?
Yes, I am also in agreement with that… ask them to explain themselves in writing. Potentially through a Formal Complaint Process? It might be, that when the more experienced Complaints Team gets to look at it, they might change their mind.
But failing that, a Letter will help. I had to get a formal Letter over the Cost of my Subsidence Claim, that had been over-inflated due to additional Contractor Damage.

I found this as an example on the FOS Database.
