Free Firewall for Vista

Hey,

Just got a new computer for christmas, and it came with Vista!!
So first things first, i installed AVG free-anitvirus and it happily came with Windows Defender. Then i started having problems, as I have always used Zone-alarm free firewall, due it not being compatable for Vista and therefore causing my computer to keep crashing!! (which can be frustrating when doing other things at the same time!)

Does anyone know of any easily available Free Firewalls for Vista??

Thanks

  • try Comodo firewall, one of the best free firewalls out there. I believe latest version 3 supports vista:

I had exactly the same problem, my laptop kept crashing, I am now using commodo as the above post has recommended also. I use it alongside AVG so I can vouch for them both working together with no trouble as yet.

Ok thanks guys, much apreciated. Just found out have free trial of McAfee, so will run that for the 90 day period then allow the Commodo to take over.

  • Comodo definately seems to be the best out there, although if you're not paying for McAfee (ie sign up to an AOL account on the .com website using a US zip code and download Mcafee free from their downloads page - works good for me (try AOls zip if you wanna be cheeky)

Is it a Dell? I know they come with a free 90 day McAfee trial. Run the Dell Decrapifier if you do!
