Smart meter installed 5 months ago, still no usage data with OVO Energy, anyone else had this
just wanted to see if anyone’s been through something similar as it’s getting a bit frustrating now. I moved into a new property and initially had a completely incorrect bill from OVO, which they later admitted was wrong. Because of that, they installed a smart meter around 7 months ago to fix things going forward. The issue is, even now, about 5 months after the smart meter was installed, I still can’t see any usage data at all. Nothing in the app, no readings, just blank.
I’ve chased it up multiple times and they’ve now said they’ll come out and reinstall another smart meter, which feels a bit excessive but I’m hoping it finally resolves things.Has anyone else had a smart meter installed but then had no data showing for months? And did a reinstall actually fix it

Do you mean there's nothing showing on the actual meter? Or is it the IHD (in home device or something)?
I had new meters a couple of months back and the IHD only show things for the electric, not the gas. It seems to be a common problem possibly more with older properties with nice solid thick walls that won't let a signal through.
If it's the meters that are blank I'm sure you've checked pushing all the relevant buttons. Annoying to not be able to see anything. But are they getting readings? Obviously I prefer to be able to check these occasionally just to be sure things are ok.

It’s basically a smart meter installed in a private utility room, not something you interact with directly like the in-home display.
Its main job is to automatically send electricity usage data back to the supplier, so your account gets accurate readings without manual meter reads. You won’t necessarily see anything on the device itself

Can you check the status of the LED on the comms hub - normally around the top 2" of the combined electricity smart meter and comms hub unit.
A slow flash - every five seconds - iirc - suggests the device itself is working - so may be a supplier account link up problem - most only take a few days to a couple of weeks to successfully set up a working meter - but at 5 months and a proposed refit - tends to suggest a real issue with connection.
When you say App - do you mean Ovo's own app - have you tried an independent data connection like Bright app if the WAN lights are slow flashing ?
See typical pictures here for old 2G/3G cellular and in North - LRR Arqiva radio versions
Sadly about 10% of smart meters fail to communicate or stop communicating in service. Building walls and geography matter.
If cellular - there may be things that can be done to improve signal strength - like off meter aerials.
See for examples here
Does anyone know if the homebrew status request is still alive - the old link I had - has a dead lik to the home site on it.

I had a smart meter installed by OVO to replace a complex metering system with 2 meters and 2 rates (still on 2 rates but now it's Economy 10). It did take longer than they originally quoted to start getting the smart readings showing in the account - I think the original estimate was 6 or 8 weeks and it ended up taking a few weeks longer.
But neither the new meter in the cupboard nor the IHD on the worktop were blank, and I could obtain the readings from the meter screen as usual.
