Barclaycard Balance not adding up correctly on app
A strange one this.
I still use Microsoft Money for my accounting, so I can get an up-to-date view of my finances.
All has been balancing fine against the official log on the site for years now, but I have noticed a difference of £34.62 for a couple of weeks now. This just happens to be exactly the same amount as a transaction I made in Sainsbury's, but this only appears on the log once.
I've tried messaging them, but the service has been down for days. I don't fancy ringing them, at least not until the monthly statement comes out, then I can double-check that my calculations so far have been OK.
I just wondered if anyone else had experienced similar?

Why wait for the statement? - Can you not go online and check your transactions there.

Isn't that what OP means by balancing against "the official log on the site"?

Sounds like authorisation has not dropped off, making it look like to the OP that the amount has been taken twice?

Transaction turned up late and balanced into the wrong week maybe?

Frankly I have had enough of Barclaycard.
Authorised payments from my current account aren't being recognised either in my current account or Barclaycard.
The same problem occurred last month.
In addition I was linking Barclaycard to another of my accounts and the balance recorded was completely different to my balance with Barclaycard as recorded on statement.
The only solution for me is to close the Barclaycard account.
Just want to wait to see if an authorised payment on Monday is debited to my current account and credited to Barclaycard. Then I will pay balance.

Any authorised payment is just that. Retailer has requested funds from bank. Bank have said OK, & set aside these funds (come out of you avaiable balance). May or may not fully debit.
It is then down to retailer to fully request the funds. Which then show as a debit on your statement & the authorisation should drop off. Sometimes they do not. Shuch is the way of the systems.

Too much data and overanalysis can be a bad thing. Just because things don't work how you think they should based on your recording system, doesn't mean the system Barclaycard use is wrong.
I have a Barclaycard and other cards and pending/authorised payments can sit there for days, others clear within minutes. Its just how the system works.

I took it that the log was something to do with Microsoft Money.
Why would the OP need to wait for a monthly statement - the transactions are already there for them to see?

Even if OP was referring to data within MS Money, labelling it as "official" presumably suggests that it was sourced from Barclaycard, and the thread title is specifically about the balance "not adding up correctly on app", so anyone using the app is presumably familiar with the concept of not having to wait for monthly statements?

Too little info is also a bad thing, especially when asking a question as the OP has done.
