No return within parking rule

Excellent thanks. I never trust camera controlled parking. I always take photographic evidence if say a meter is having issues or when using terminals etc. So many places are jumping on the bandwagon now with it as an easy money maker as many just pay up without contesting. My Dad did some years ago. Literally drove into a carpark changed his mind and drove out again but apparently was over the 10 minute grace period as such.

Surely that only proves where a mobile device such as a telephone was?
It doesn't prove the location of a vehicle does it?
If I parked my car all day somewhere I am not permitted to and then went to work how would proving where my telephone was help?

It'd be on the balance of probabilities, you'd just need to convince a small court judge that you probably didn't leave the car in the car park all day.
It's unlikely you'd drive from home to a shopping centre, park up, walked into a shop, returned to the car and then ran home at 30mph for a few hours before returning.0 -
Friend parked at a university sports centre car park which is 2 hours maximum usage for sports centre users. She dropped her daughter off for a 1 hour sports centre session and then picked her up afterwards. The first entry to drop her off and final exit after picking her up were within 2 hours. But the time from exit after dropping her off to returning to pick her up was within an hour. The signage says 'no return within one hour'. Had she never left the car park between drop off and pick up she would have been fine (as less than 2 hours). She's received a ticket from the parking company they use for returning within an hour.
Has anyone seen this scenario before. The sports centre staff are sympathetic and remember her dropping off and picking up her daughter as she went inside, and think the whole thing is silly, but say they can't do anything about it.
I came, I saw, I melted0 -
Was she even "parked" on one or both occasions, as opposed to just dropping off / picking up the passenger? Otherwise, use the same tactics as for any other private parking ticket (from the more appropriate board).

They can usually do something about it. I'd be complaining to the sports centre that the predatory parking practices are making it difficult for your kid to attend classes there. You can always point out that (other sports centre) doesn't have the same problem.
Also go throught the usual appeal nonsense with the parking company, who'll reject it anyway.
I've always wondered how parking companies would proceed if there were 2 drivers - driver B can't be held liable for any agreement made by driver A. I suspect they wouldn't want to take that kind of claim any further because it'd set a precident.1
