Appreciate this is a few months old, but I believe they'll only add new gilts if they believe there's a demand. So I'd urge everyone to go to and click on the link and fill out the form with your favourite missing gilts.

Yes, this is indeed possible.
I was struck by the fact that Freetrade did not offer iShares' ETF SEGA - and submitted a request. It took two or three months, but it's now available to invest in.0 -
If it's any help to anyone, partly as a result of being nudged again bybthis thread, I bought gilts for the first time yesterday.
I opened an account with Scottish Widows/iweb, which went very smoothly and was able to make the purchase I wished to very swiftly. The whole process was very straightforward.

Barclays Direct Investing (being renamed from Smart Investor), is quite good for gilts now as £6/trade for shares (free for funds) and no platform fee as of 1st June, and better UI than SW share dealing.
Sadly its free regular investing excludes gilts

I did the same last month an was impressed.
One little point, the amount you chose to spend includes the £5 charge, so don't do as I did and leave £5 cash in the account to pay the charge.
