Seemingly direct from the main website too.

What can you even trust these days then?

And yes I'm aware that apparently it was only an issue for a relatively small window but still, if you downloaded within that window then it's an issue I guess.

I think perhaps if it ain't broke then don't fix it, or rather if you're having no issues then don't update something.

It wasn't the actual software on their website affected, the website was using a redirect to download hacked versions.

    Hi,

Investigations are still ongoing, but it appears that a secondary feature (basically a side API) was compromised for approximately six hours between April 9 and April 10, causing the main website to randomly display malicious links (our signed original files were not compromised). The breach was found and has since been fixed. Sorry for the inconvenience. I did my best to fix that mess as soon as possible :-/

I watched the story on this it was not even the software but a silly Microsoft Windows idea that uses local DLL files
and not the DLL installed in the system directory.

The software was fine but the DLL in the same folder is a sign all is not well.

This issue not withstanding, a DLL in a program folder isn't unusual, and used to be the standard practice for many years. You see it all the time with computer games that are running custom functions or what not.

Modern convention is to share common DLL files in the System32 folder, but that wasn't always a thing.
