Specified adult credits when self employed
Hello,
My father has been looking after my daughter while I work for a few years now. I was transferring my child benefit credits to him while I was employed.
I am now self employed and would like to do the same thing as he will still be looking after my daughter while I work. I have read that once you earn over around 7k (the lower limit) then the class 2 NI credits are automatically applied, so I would be able to transfer my child benefit credits to him.
However, as I have only just started up, I dont expect my income to be over 7k in the first year or two so can I do a self assessment tax return and if I pay Class 2 NI credits voluntary, does that mean I can transfer my child benefit credits to my father as before?
Hope that makes sense.
Thank you for your help!

Ask HMRC if you can voluntarily pay class 2 and transfer to someone else.
I would think it would be unlikely.
Why don't you just pay NI conts on behalf of your father? Give him the money so he can do it?
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.0
