UC/LCWRA - Before 5/4/26 & Post 6/4/26

Hi Everyone, I have been searching and trying to find answers online, I have even asked UC, but they couldn't give a definite answer. I guess their advisors don't want to give incorrect information or put themselves in a difficult position.

My 18 year old daughter has ESA credits only/in the support group status when she applied for UC in the last week of March. ID was verified by a UC member at home. Her statement date is 26th April and first payment is 30th April.

Will she qualify for the 25/26 rate of LCWRA as she applied and had support ESA status pre 6/4/26. Or as her first statement comes out post 6/4/26 will she get the lower 26/27 rate?

No one is able to tell me, explain any reasoning or give us a definite answer.

Any information would be appreciated.

The date she applied for UC is the only relevant date as UC is paid one month in arrears.

Because she applied before April 6th and had a prior ESA SG award, this should passport her to LCWRA at the higher amount.

I believe what tends to happen with UC is that the upright occurs from the next AP. I’m sure this has been discussed before. So regardless of your payment date in April it will be at the old rate and then May will be at the new rate.

For example - AP 20 March- 19 April paid 24 April - old rate. AP 20 April -19 May, paid 26 May - new rate.

If moving from SG to LCWRA if there is no break of claim it will be paid at the higher rate.
