This is covered under delivery of goods:

    https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2015/15/section/28

If you told them delivery was essential then you can treat the contract at an end (for a full refund) now, if not you can give them one more reasonable timeframe for delivery and then treat the contract at an end.

    What's reasonable is undefined.

Chargeback (for non-receipt) would be 15 days for VISA and 30 for MasterCard if I remember correctly.

Putting aside the verbal issue, the original date in the email of the 17th would allow a VISA chargeback before their revised date of the 10th of May.

I highly doubt the company want to lose the sale, if you can wait I'd mention the delivery is too long and ask for something thrown in to sweeten the delay (cushions, a rug or whatever other random pieces they might sell that go with sofas).

Everything is a negotiation and whist they will no doubt do their best to give you nothing advising you'll do a chargeback on the 2nd of May for non-receipt might put the ball in your court.

If based on date of the debit on their account.

But OP has not confirmed what amount this relates to Or if any finance is involved, which could effect the issue 🤷‍♀️

It's true that lots of things are being held up, not just because of the straits being closed but the disruption to transport causes by fuel shortages and increase in prices.

As an example, some computers you would normally expect delivery in days are now estimating June/July or in one case September!

Unless this crazy war ends soon we are going to have to get used to disruption.
