How long is probate taking for a simple estate at the moment?

it took less than two in weeks for my FIL's probate to come through. pretty simple eastate when all the forms were put together after months of gathering information. This was from end of March to 10th April and included the Easter holidays.

Currently requests are taking up to 20 weeks.

We just did the DIY probate through the gov website. £300… bargain (local solicitor wanted about £2,200). We submitted the online form on Friday, sent the will on Monday, "Grant of Probate" letter arrived Saturday morning.

I applied for letters of administration on 1st April for my mum's estate and received confirmation the probate was approved on 6th April. I'm still waiting for the letters of administration to arrive which I think is mostly down to the postal service - we received a bunch of letters (condolence cards) at the start of this week that were postmarked up to three weeks earlier.
