I think it's the expectation of your friend for Telsa to have the answers is what I would take umbrage with! A lot of these front line support staff will be put on the spot by customers (unreasonably) and say the first thing that pops in their head (as saying you don't know, it's not our problem is actually more difficult, it's drilled into them to be empathetic).

I'm sure you're aware of this, but when entering into such commitments, individuals need an exit plan if it all goes wrong. It's commonplace now for people to think everything will carry on the same, and not exercise caution. A single person with commitments ideally needs an emergency fund and unemployment insurance. I'd put a fair bet on them not having GAP insurance either. Hopefully they will be able to quickly regain employment, these are tough knocks to face at the same time.

What's his credit like? If it's already bad, then he may as well take the 4 month payment holiday and use the time to try and get new employment and if not he can go back to Tesla and tell them he can't pay. I assume at some point after that they'll reposess the car and take him to court for the remaining balance, but if his credit is already toast there's not much they can do.

Your friend’s landlord may be selling up but he can’t be forced to move out if he has nowhere to go, it is very difficult for a landlord to evict a tenant as they have legal protection. He should ask for advice from Shelter.

As I asked up thread, was a truly valid S21 served? Many are not.

Has a court said he has to leave the property?

If he leaves too willingly just because the LL asked, he may be deemed "intentionally homeless" and that will affect eligibility for alternative property

Also double check it is a lease… people are often lax with terminology but there are big legal differences between PCP and PCH even though both have (incorrectly) been described as "leases" on here by certain posters.

What is the correct terminology then? I work in leasing, just want you to clarify the previous errors if they exist.

LCH is leasing, PCP is a form of HP and so not leasing but people call it leasing, particularly when they intend to give the car back and not pay the balloon. HP is governed by the CCA and so has rights like surrender, LCH isnt credit but a service and so isnt covered by the CCA
