I have a policy for holidays in Europe for this year, which was the plan.

Next year I’m going to need Worldwide cover- so a new policy. But one of next year’s holidays will be finishing in November. I can’t seem to book a policy that will cover that length of time now, but the people doing the holiday want me to pay one or two instalments before November this year.
I’m guessing my current European policy would not cover my booking a worldwide holiday, even though it wouldn’t be the whole cost.
So, what to do? I don’t want to pay money out uninsured & then have something go wrong.

If you have booked the world holiday you should have that cover now.

So your present European needs up grading, will your provider do that?

Your problem is that you are buying Annual travel insurance…

Just buy single-trip insurance for the holiday next year.

A worldwide policy may be a good deal for the OP - depends on how often he travels and where to etc.

If taking out a Europe only policy you really need to know which countries are covered - a few years ago I was surprised to discover the scope of some European travel insurance policies - they can include Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, Egypt and Turkey.

While excluding Spain and one or two other obviously European countries unless you opt in!

I had a Google search - Malta and Turkey also mentioned in possibly excluded countries with Spain

Our Nationwide travel insurance with Aviva, part of the FlexPlus current account covers all these countries 😊

My current LV policy does include them but my last policy didn't unless I added them.

Not spotting potentially excluded European countries could be a very expensive mistake. Read policy documents carefully.
