Travel Insurance for Cycling / Mountain Biking

Just contacted Admiral about their Defaqto 5 star Platinum cover and discovered Mountain Biking on any grade of trail or uneven ground is uncovered even under their Extreme Sports add-on cover even though sports like bouldering and rock climbing up to 100m are covered !! Disappointing but assume down to number and frequency of accidents. I'll look elsewhere.

BUT VERY SUPRISED to discover that simple cycling around lakes-side trails or low level simple forest trails through country parks are also NOT covered by Admiral as they only cover cycling if done on the road (not racing of course). Worth checking your insurance if its a risk you assumed covered and want cover.

Try the British Mountaineering Council insurance. I've had mountain bike cover from them before, not racing of course.

Plenty of places to get cover from but your point is well made, always a good idea to check your cover for anything even borderline "adventurous".

Found out that scuba wasn't part of the watersports coverage of a travel policy I had once, after the fact.
