Gladstone Solicitors- Partially Paid

Hi all, hoping for some advice. I’ve received a Letter Before Claim from Gladstones Solicitors on behalf of Private Parking Solutions (London) Ltd. details below:•Location: 441 Edgware Road, London W2 1TH

•Date of incident: 3 September 2024•Vehicle: 2022 VW T-Roc (I am registered keeper)

•Amount claimed: £170 (£100 original + £70 admin)

Background:

I parked at the location because the shop owner verbally told me it was fine to park out front. I was not aware I was in a private parking enforcement zone as signage was not clear or prominent.

The debt was included in a Debt Management Plan from December 2025 and approximately £30 was paid toward it before the DMP ended. I have documentation of this from my DMP provider.

I sent a formal dispute letter raising:

inadequate signage, unenforceable penalty charge (£70 admin costs), PoFA Schedule 4 non-compliance, and the partial payments already made. Gladstones responded saying they will proceed to court and won’t engage further.

No claim form has arrived yet. What are my next steps? What should I expect next?

Thank you In advance!

They would argue that the debt has been admitted because you paid £30. You would probably have been better keeping quiet about it.

But they churn these out every day and don't really care, so I would defend as normal if a claim comes in and not mention the £30 in your defence. Really you're hoping for a £170 claim.

Hang on…why ON EARTH did a DMP company include a private parking invoice in a debt arrangenent and make you start to pay the scam invoice instead of concentrating on real debts?

I hate the way that DMP providers - and even charities like the CAB - actually think all invoices are 'debt'. You don't pay a private parking charge!

PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Please can you explain where the debt came from to generate a "debt management plan "? there was no debt and there still is no debt, you appear to have urinated £30 up the wall.

Either you have been conned, or something is not quite right here.
