Repair & Assure warranty cancellation

Hi, my mum has two warranty policies with Repair & Assure thst take a montly payment. One started in November 25, one January 26. We tried to cancel (outside of the cooling off period) as she has had a change of financial and living circustances. They said we cant cancel the policy, it has to run the remainder of the term. All they can do not auto renew it. Is this correct? Not looking for a refund, just for no further payments to be taken. They said if the direct debit is stopped their collections team will be in touch. Is there any way to end thee policies and stop future payments?
