Nationwide fair share classed as interest

Only situation I could see this being useful would be to avoid entering the higher tax bracket, at which point the personal savings allowance drops to £500…
(which naturally saves you £100 of tax, equal to the Nationwide fairer share payment!)

oh dear. Yes indeed, always the joker….

if you're giving it to charity, then you could always donate £80, which they can claim gift aid on to take it up to £100. And you could still then reclaim £25 in tax through SA.

I get it was a joke but in all seriousness for some older Nationwide customers this could be the thing that moves their income from below the Winter Fuel tax charge threshold to above it.
So there could be someone who gets £100 and as a result has to pay £305.10, back to HMRC 😢

How much of your personal savings allowance are you using?

Looking at some other posts by @HedgehogRulez, for example this one, I wonder whether they are jesting?

This one, a few posts before yours on this page, would answer that question….

Did you miss their post @ 12.24?
@Dazed_and_C0nfused raises a valid point though.1
