Blue Badge appeal
I applied for a blue badge for a family member that has limited mental capacity. They have severe anxiety, can kick off in shops at random times, and are further triggered by things like long queues, busy aisles, dogs, loud cars etc which means we have to abruptly end shopping trips and having the car close by helps.
I provided a GP letter.
But the application was rejected without a reason and was told it doesn't meet DFT guidelines. And that's it.
We applied under hidden disability (am sure I checked that box) as patient scored 12 points for PIP.
Am in the process of appealing got two weeks left.
GP letters aren't acceptable proof and they require a letter from a specialist doctor. However, the issue is specialists discharge patients after certain period, and the GP takes over as they're primary care. Secondary care (specialists) always diagnose, prescribe and discharge. They have no reason to keep patients on their books if a condition doesn't get worse or they need to monitor a patient. However council blue badge teams think otherwise.
Any advice on how the appeal can be successful please?

Which council, as they tend to have their own criteria
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Nottingham County Council.
I thought the criteria was national?

do they have a learning disability or autism that can cause that type of behaviour? If not it's highly unlikely you will get a badge

Have a look in their medical history for letters from specialist & provide that.
If they have doctors app or NHS online/app they will be in there 👍

What criteria does that person meet? "Help" alone isn't enough, as not all disabled people are entitled to a BB but parking nearer would help all disabled people.

They were diagnosed with general learning / development at a young age back in 1999
Will a letter from the MP help?

then that gives you more leverage to get a badge. Gather as much evidence of that as you can.
