McDonald’s Southall + site survey

Hi all,

Last week received a PCN from MET for allegedly leaving the premises at McDonald’s Southall. I’ve already appealed and it got rejected today.

The Notice to Keeper states the vehicle was observed at 14:30 on 22 March 2026.

I’ve seen previous posts about this scam and I’m somewhat familiar with the process, thought I’d share the evidence they sent over though :D

What would you recommend at this stage, go to POPLA or ignore for now and wait for potential court docs and look at a counterclaim angle?

I also complained to the McDonald’s manager, but he wasn’t having it.

Regards

SC

It's a scam and a load of old baloney do they really want you to believe that someone went into the ladies and gents toilets looking for the driver of a car while they were doing what ever they were doing, I would imagine someone would give them a black eye on one of these disturbing excursions into the unknown!😆

Also if the landowner wanted to make sure that everyone stayed on site the attendant would stop people leaving and advise them not to, there would be a plan of the boundary etc etc.

It's just an add on scam they use as a threat but will not take anywhere, just deny it, they have no real evidence, stick it out to its conclusion as outlined in the stickies.

This scam has appeared a number of times recently. Have a search on the forum to see how they all progressed (Spoiler - nobody paid)

Yes, appeal to POPLA by copying another MET POPLA Appeal about the same scam location.

PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Am I reading the Survey correctly ?

    Start Time = 11:30PM

    Completed = 7:00AM

    Signed off = 14:30 (2:30PM)

You would have thought that if they wanted to scam they would at least get the times to align?

I recon that is start at 1130, finish at 1900 and signed off at 1930. You are not dealing with the sharpest knife in the box!

How did they ask customers which vehicle they were driving? Was it a random register, did they go around asking everyone what car they drove?

I wouldn't respond to any random asking me to confirm my reg. I have a new car, I don't even know my reg yet. As far as I can tell, there is no legal requirement to tell someone what you drive if they ask, and even with ID, I have no idea what random parking company IDs look like, so I would argue that is not evidence enough to supply data to them.

Vehicle was observed at 14:30 on date, but they started at 23:30 according to their signed paperwork. No-one will accept that as evidence!

I’m going to ignore it from here. If they push it to court, I’ll look at a counterclaim for breach of personal data and harassment.

No one has taken this scam to court since the "toothbrush case" where a legal rep was threatened with a night or two in custody!
