Is there a way to hide hard drive history/info?

I imagine entirely possible because the drive I needed to claim on which was within 2yr warranty actually wasn't within warranty Seagate said because the warranty wasn't for the UK.
And that drive was bought as a brand spanker, not used.

Years ago Seagate printed a serial number on their drives, which you could look-up to get a rough manufacturing date. The more recent, but still pretty old, drives I have, have a QR code on the back, which probably does the same thing.
