Octopus cheaper rate for batteries for small business

Hello, ive just been told by octopus that they have withdrawn the flux rate for charging batteries off peak due to the energy costs at the moment. This beggars the question, why should i invest in batteries if at the first sign of trouble the supplier withdraws the things they encourage to save money and reduce pressure on the grid.Anyone else getting these sort of issues?

Thanks

Andy

They have not withdrawn Flux, they have just stopped taking new sign ups, largely to avoid a lot of people signing up to tariffs they do not understand in a panic as they seem the low rate on flux and think that they can save money without understanding there are also higher rated periods. You currently also have the option of EV tariffs (8p per kWh off peak), E7, or other supplier's battery tariffs.

    Welcome to the forum.

ive just been told by octopus that they have withdrawn the flux rate

As above; Flux isn't withdrawn and there are lots of existing customers. However they've temporarily paused any new sign-ups.

    for charging batteries off peak

If your interest in Flux is for charging batteries off-peak (rather than selling electricity during the peak period) there are other tariffs that could work out better than Flux.

Even boring old Economy 7 is an option.

Flux is a tariff for net exporters, certainly not the best choice for those with just a battery, so hopefully you are indeed a net exporter, at least over summer?

Otherwise there are still some decent E7 tariffs around and of course all the EV tariffs if you qualify…
